The History
A long time ago, John Armstrong had an idea. He wanted to showcase many of the diverse talents of Edmonton's music scene and decided that Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" was the perfect vehicle. After recruiting the present musical cast and assigning writing projects based on the character that they would portray, the troupe began to meet, jam, share their original songs and create what would become the Christmas Carol Project.

The Christmas Carol project premiered at the Catalyst Theatre in Edmonton in December of 1996. Despite a bitterly cold (- 40 C) evening, the show was a sold out success.

The second run in 1997 was highly acclaimed by
audiences and media, alike.

Once again at Catalyst in 1998, the Christmas Carol Project quickly sold out 2 shows
on December 18th & 19th and a third show was added on December 20th.
The Saturday night performance was recorded by Rick Fenton and
broadcast by CBC Radio One on December 23rd & 25th.

For the 7th year, an extra show was added on
Sunday and the 5 night run saw full houses every evening. Three new

The 8th Annual Christmas Carol Project was the
most successful run to date
with 5 evening shows & a Saturday matinee
December 17th - 21st, 2003
